Frederic V. Salerno, former Vice Chairman and CFO of Verizon (NYSE:VZ), has joined Gabelli Group
Capital Partners, Inc. ("GGCP") as a Senior Advisor. GGCP is the privately held family firm that
controls Gabelli Asset Management Inc. (NYSE:GBL) and its subsidiaries.
Mr. Salerno is a member of the boards of Akamai Technologies, AVNET, Inc., Bear Stearns Company, Inc.,
Consolidated Edison, Inc., Dun & Bradstreet, Manhattan College, Popular, Inc., and Viacom, Inc.
Mr. Salerno currently serves as Chairman of Lynch Interactive (Amex:LIC), a position he assumed in
December 2002. Prior to joining Lynch, Mr. Salerno was Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of
Verizon Communications, Inc.
Mr. Salerno joined New York Telephone in 1965 and was elected Vice President in 1983, when he
directed the divestiture of the firm from the Bell System. In 1987, he became President and CEO of
New York Telephone. In the course of his career, Mr. Salerno served as a lead negotiator for three
of the most significant mergers in business history: the 1997 merger of Bell Atlantic and NYNEX,
Bell Atlantic's merger with GTE, and the combination of the U.S. wireless assets of Bell Atlantic
and Vodafone into the country's largest wireless provider, Verizon Wireless.
Prior to the Bell Atlantic/GTE merger, Mr. Salerno was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of Bell Atlantic. He was a member of the Office of the Chairman, responsible for
the company's planning efforts, business development and finance.
An active participant in support of community and education issues, Mr. Salerno in 1988 was named
by former governor Mario Cuomo chairman of New York's Temporary State Commission on the Distribution
of State Aid to Local School Districts. In 1990, Cuomo appointed him chairman of the board of
trustees of the State University of New York, a position Mr. Salerno held until February 1996.
