Mr. Freeman graduated cum laude from Millsaps College with a BA in Economics and
received his Masters of Science in Economics from Louisiana State University. He began
his career in 1987 while attending Millsaps College working for KPMG Peat Marwick in the
accounting department where he analyzed corporate regulatory filings.
After completing
his undergraduate studies, Mr. Freeman joined the U.S. Peace Corps where he served as a
program director for two years in Togo West Africa. Mr. Freeman joined First American
National Bank in 1994 where he held several positions including Asset/Liability Analyst
and Treasury Analyst/Economist. He was promoted to Assistant Vice President - Fixed
Income Strategist/Senior Economist in 1998 where he had responsibility for developing
and executing fixed income strategies for the bank’s $5 billion investment portfolio.
Additionally, he served as the Senior Economist where he provided economic analysis to
both senior management and to clients.
At Westwood, Mr. Freeman leads the fixed income portfolio management group. He also provides
economic analysis and research for the firm. Mr. Freeman was promoted to Vice President and
Portfolio Manager in 2000. Mr. Freeman achieved the designation of Chartered Financial
Analyst (CFA) in 1998.
