The Gabelli Global Utility & Income Trust - Objective
 

The Gabelli Global Utility & Income Trust, is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company whose investment objective is to seek a consistent level of after-tax total return for its investors with an emphasis currently on tax-advantaged dividend income under current tax law.

Under normal market conditions, the Fund invests at least 80% of its assets in equity securities of domestic and foreign companies involved in the utilities industry and other industries that are expected to periodically pay dividends.

Companies in the utilities industry are those companies involved to a substantial extent (i.e., at least 50% of the assets, gross income or net profits of a company is committed to or derived from) in providing (i) products, services or equipment for the generation or distribution of electricity, gas or water, (ii) infrastructure operations such as airports, toll roads and municipal services and (iii) telecommunications services such as telephone, telegraph, satellite, cable, microwave, radiotelephone, mobile communication and cellular, paging, electronic mail, videotext, voice communications, data communications and internet. Under normal market conditions, at least 50% of the Fund's assets will consist of equity securities of domestic and foreign companies involved to a substantial extent in the utilities industry. In making stock selections, the Fund's investment adviser looks for companies that have proven dividend records and sound financial structures.
